George Bedford, Jr

George was an avid Ponce de Leon player.  Loved the game.  

George was quite a fan of baseball.  He served in the Navy and helped with one of our class reunions.  He lived in Montgomery County (Rockville/Aspen Hill/Chevy Chase) area for many years.

The following obituary appeared in the Washington Post on April 18, 2017

"George Bedford Jr., 70, former chief of credit card purchasing for operating expenses of George Washington University, died Feb. 4 at a hospice center in Washington. The cause was liver cancer, said a son, George Bedford III.  Mr. Bedford, a resident of Chevy Chase, Md., was born in Washington. He worked 28 years as an accounting officer for GWU, retiring as purchasing card director in 2013. He was an amateur baseball player playing in the Ponce de Leon League for 30 years. He also coached youth baseball in Rockville, Md."

George and I were teammates in the Ponce league, and he was the bestcatcher in the league and a true superstar and a wonderful team player.  He will be missed
